The Web Services node lists all registered web services. A web service that is registered in the IDE can be tested from the IDE.
Web services rely on the JAX-RPC 1.6 XML library. In JDK 1.5 and higher, this library's classes are part of the JDK. If the IDE is running under JDK 1.4, the Web Services node is disabled, because the necessary classes are not available to the IDE by default. To enable web services, you need to use the Update Center to add the JAX-RPC 1.6 XML library to the IDE.
To add the JAX-RPC 1.6 XML library to the IDE:
The Update Center opens. If you are behind a firewall, click Proxy Configuration and set your proxy host and port number.
The wizard asks you whether you want to restart the IDE now or later. The IDE needs to restart to load the JAX-RPC 1.6 XML library. When you restart the IDE, the Web Services node is enabled.
