NWAM maintains a list of favorite wireless networks. This list contains the names (ESSIDs) and access point addresses (BSSIDs) for all wireless networks that you have accessed since you installed the OpenSolaris 2008.11 release. Whenever a wireless interface is activated at system startup or through the NWAM Manager Icon menu, NWAM automatically checks the networks in the current physical location against the list of favorites. If one network in the list is available, then NWAM automatically connects your system to that network. If multiple networks from the favorites list are available, NWAM prompts you to choose a network from the NWAM Manager Icon menu.
You can modify the list of favorites by adding, deleting, or modifying the characteristics of wireless networks, as shown in the next task.
- Right-click the NWAM Manager Icon.
- Choose the Manage Favorite Wireless Networks option.
The Favorite Wireless Networks pop-up window is displayed.

The Favorite Wireless Networks pop-up window shows the names and access points of all previously accessed wireless networks, regardless of location. For example, if your system is a laptop, your unedited favorites list can potentially include all wireless networks that you accessed in your house, your office, and perhaps your local coffee house. You can add, edit, or delete networks in the favorites list.
- (Optional) Add a network to the favorites list.
You might want to use this option to add a network that you haven't yet accessed at the system's current physical location.
- Left-click Add.
The Add Wireless Network popup window appears.
- Type the name and BSSID of the network.
- Left-click OK to add this network to your list of favorites.
- (Optional) Edit a favorite network.
You might want to change the information about a favorite network, particularly if its name has changed. Do the following in the Favorite Wireless Networks pop-up window:
- Left-click the network with the information that you want to change.
- Left-click Edit.
- Type the changed information in the appropriate fields.
- Left-click OK to approve these changes.
- (Optional) Delete a favorite network.
You can delete a network from the list of favorites. Thereafter, NWAM does not try to connect to the deleted network during startup or when you choose a wireless connection from the NWAM Manager Icon menu.
- Left-click the network that you want to delete.
 | Note - If you delete the currently active network, the system is automatically disconnected from the network. NWAM prompts you to choose another network. |
- Left-click Delete.
The network is removed from the list of favorites.
- Click OK to save all changes to the list of favorites, or click Cancel to exit without changing the list.
