At initial system startup, NWAM tries to connect to a network through the wired interface. To change to a wireless network after startup, follow these instructions.
- Disconnect the system's network cable
NWAM disables the wired interface and activates the wireless interface. If NWAM discovers a single wireless network, the system connection switches to this network. Otherwise, continue to the next steps.
- Right-click the NWAM Manager Icon.
You see a menu similar to the NWAM Manager Icon menu for wireless networks, as shown in How to Connect to a Wireless Network at Startup.
- Choose the option Always Use the Wireless Interface (interface-name).
You receive a message that the wireless interface is now active. NWAM then connects to the publicly accessible wireless network in your area. If more than one public wireless network is available, or if only private networks are available, continue to the next step.
- Right-click the NWAM Manager Icon to list the possible wireless networks.
- Left-click your choice of wireless networks from the listed networks.
If the network is secure, you are prompted for a password. Type the password to connect to the network. You receive messages when the wireless network connection is active.
 | Note - The connection that you choose for the "Always Use" option is active only for the current session. When you reboot the system, NWAM again tries to establish network connections through the wired network interface or from the network that is given highest priority. Network priorities are described in How to Change the Default Startup Network Connection for All Sessions. |
