OpenSolaris 2008.11 System Administration Guide: How to Change the Active Network Connection From One Wireless Network to Another Wireless Network

Table of Contents

If the active wireless network signal becomes too faint, NWAM prompts you to choose another network. Use the following steps to switch wireless networks:

  1. Right-click the NWAM Manager Icon.
The NWAM Manager Icon menu for wireless networks is displayed, as shown in the procedure How to Connect to a Wireless Network at Startup.
  2. Check the relative signal strengths of the listed wireless networks.
  3. Select the wireless network of your choice.
If the network is secure, you are prompted for a password. Type the password to connect to the network. You receive messages when the wireless network connection is active.
    Note -
This connection behavior is set for the current session only. When you reboot the system, NWAM again tries to establish network connections through the wired network interface or the network that is given highest priority. Network priorities are described in How to Change the Default Startup Network Connection for All Sessions.
