By default, OpenSolaris^TM Print Manager automatically discovers and configures USB printers that are directly connected to your system. The Print Manager also has the ability to discover and configure printers that are on a network after the network discovery service has been enabled.

Note that in the OpenSolaris 2008.11 release, this service cannot be enabled in the desktop until you install the SUNWsmgr package. If you attempt to enable the service before installing this package, the system reverts to maintenance state. 1. From the Main Menubar, select the Services settings application:
   System-> Administration-> Services
   The Services settings window is displayed.
2. To initiate the device discovery add-on module, select the Hardware Abstraction Layer network attached device discovery (network/device-discovery/printers:snmp) option.
3. To save your changes, click OK.
   To disable auto-discovery, deselect this option and click OK.
